For travel within Sweden, you may use Resrobot. For international travel more information is available on Seat 61, and journey planning from all of Europe on Deutsche Bahn. Also the Back on Track night trains map can be useful.
Many rail operators publish timetables for summer 2026 during winter 2026, so more journeys may be available from January or February.
In Sweden you may bring your bike without any bike case on SL commuter trains, Upptåget, and most other regional trains. Also, you may bring it without a case on TÅGAB long-distance trains. On SJ long-distance trains you have to carry your bike in a soft or hard case. See luggage rules for SJ.
VR Express and Snälltåget normally only allows folding bikes (like Brompton) in a case. However, Snälltåget will run a direct train Malmö - Uppsala with space for regular bikes without any case required.

From Malmö and southern Sweden you can use all SJ X2000 and SJ Intercity if you bring your bike in a case. If you would like to bring your bike without a case, you can use Öresundståg + Krösatåg + Östgötapendeln + Mälartåg. This connection has more changes, but it's usually short transfers, and the commuter trains often have seats free during summer holidays. In the year 2025 timetable, there is for example a connection departing from Malmö 09:57.
You can also travel directly with Snälltåget 16:35 from Malmö C Saturday 25 July, arriving in Uppsala 23:30. You don't need a bag for your bike, but need reserving a bike space. This connections works best if you start later than 07:00.
From Göteborg you can use all SJ X2000 and SJ Intercity if you bring your bike in a case. If you would like to travel without a case, you can take Västtrafik to Örebro, and then Mälartåg to Stockholm. You can also take Västtrafik to Nässjö, och then continue as from Malmö.
From northern Germany you can travel with SJ Euronight 346 from Berlin or Hamburg to Stockholm. You can bring a bike in a case on this train in a sleeper or couchette compartment. See the SJ luggage rules above.
For travel without a case, you can take a night ferry to Malmö / Trelleborg and then local trains. You can also travel with Eurocity Hamburg-Köpenhamn (bikes are transported without a bag, but a reservation is required) and then Snälltåget 16:35 from Malmö C Saturday 25 Juli.
A possible connection from southern and western Europe is the new Swiss night train Euronight 472, departing from Basel Friday 2026-07-24 17:35, arriving in Malmö Saturday 09:35. From there you can travel as above.
If you arrive by bike you may like to leave luggage at the start. You can use Roadfinder for finding good roads.
If you arrive by car there is parking space at Fyrishov sports centre near the finish. A ticket for multi-day parking can be bought in the parking ticket machine. On Fyrishov there is also a camping site. Remember to rest properly before driving.
If you travel with an electric vehicle, A Better Route Planner often has good coverage of charging amenities.
If you arrive by air you can take the SL commuter train from Arlanda C to Uppsala.
